In Ulaanbatar, And Out Again...

Aftet a looong bus journey from Ulan Ude to Ulaanbatar (you've got to love the iPad's autocorrect- it suggested 'looney' and 'looping' instead of 'long'- both suggestions are kinda true!). Where was I? After a long bus journey, with looney fellow passengers and beautiful, but looping Mongolian landscape, we finally made it to Ulaanbatar. By some stroke of luck- maybe throwing that coin into Lake Baikal worked!- a guy approached us with a potential guesthouse, AND we managed to book a tour at 11pm for tomorrow! Gobi desert, camels, hot springs... hopefully it will be a lot of fun. All thanks to our awesome, family-run guesthouse, of course... Golden Gobi has a homely feel from the moment that you walk in. Quick note on Ulaanbatar...what a buzzing city! We tried our first Mongolian barbecue under a marquee by the department store...the meat was a little chewy, but such FLAVOUR!

Anyway, that's enough for now...next time I write, it will be festival time in the Mongolian capital! Naadam, a Mongolian mini version of the Olympics, is held from 11- 12 July, and includes wrestling, horse racing and ankle bone shooting... should be a unique watch! Speak to you then xx
